Sensory Impairment
Living with a visual, hearing, or dual sensory impairment can make everyday tasks more challenging, but with the right support, you can continue to live independently and stay connected to the world around you.
What's Included
Carers trained in clear communication techniques, including lip-reading awareness, written communication, and working with interpreters or assistive technology.
Help with tasks that become more difficult with sensory loss, including reading correspondence, managing finances, cooking safely, and navigating your home.
Confident support when moving around your home and community, including guiding techniques, route familiarisation, and public transport assistance.
Assistance with using hearing aids, magnifiers, screen readers, and other assistive technology that helps you stay independent and informed.
Who Is This For
This service supports individuals with partial or complete vision loss, hearing loss, deafblindness, or age-related sensory decline. We work with people of all ages, adapting our approach to each person's specific impairment and level of independence.
Our Approach
We understand that sensory impairment requires a completely different approach to care, and we never assume what someone can or cannot do based on their diagnosis.
Carers receive training in sensory awareness, guiding techniques, and assistive technology. We work with sensory impairment charities, social services, and rehabilitation officers to ensure comprehensive support.
